Job Openings: QA & Compliance Technologist

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our range of stationery, novelty gifts, bags, and drinkware meet all applicable UK/EU safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Based in our Otley office working with our Design, Sourcing and Merchandise teams, you will support the development of innovative products from concept through to launch, ensuring products are safe, compliant, fit for purpose, and manufactured to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input throughout the product development process to minimise compliance risks.
  • Review packaging artwork for legal markings, warnings, care instructions, and recycling information
  • Manage the testing program for product and material compliance with suppliers and independent laboratories, ensuring it is comprehensive whilst cost efficient.
  • Maintain product technical files ensuring due diligence across company, customer and licensor requirements, and enabling prompt fulfilment of information and documentation requests
  • Update and communicate technical critical path trackers to ensure timely compliance activity aligned with shipment dates
  • Ensure all customer QA & Compliance requirements are anticipated and delivered in line with key critical path dates
  • Maintain a supplier/factory audit database, ensuring appropriate ethical and/or technical audits are in place, and any CAPs are followed up and resolved.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in a Product Technologist, Technical, Compliance or Quality role.
  • Working knowledge of UK/EU product safety legislation, particularly food contact materials compliance, EN71, EN62115/EN60598, EMC, RoHS, and REACH across toys, stationery, gift, and light-up product categories
  • Confident in specifying test requirements and reviewing laboratory test reports.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
